What is the CIK Number?
The CIK (Central Index Key) is a special number given by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to companies and investors that file reports with them.
How CIK Numbers Work
- 13F filings are reports that big investors (managing at least $100 million) must send to the SEC every three months.
- Each investor has a CIK number, which makes it easy to find their 13F filings in the SEC’s EDGAR database.
- By looking up an investor’s CIK, you can see what stocks they own and follow their investment moves.
